Success StoriesData Governance for Fortune 100 Global High Tech Manufacturer
100+ years of innovation with 35K patents
Business Need
Objectives Driving Transformation
A Fortune 100 global high-tech manufacturer required enterprise data governance automation and orchestration across four disparate strategic business units (SBUs). The organization sought to formalize data management policies and procedures spanning data access, definitions, metadata management, master data management, change management, and process governance. Leadership needed to define and align business, data, governance, and technical assets while driving stakeholder adoption through structured communications, knowledge management, and training. Integration of the new governance platform with Informatica was critical to ensure operational alignment and reporting transparency.
- Automate and orchestrate enterprise data governance processes
- Formalize policies for data access, definition, metadata, and change management
- Define and align governance, business, and technical assets across SBUs
- Integrate governance platform with Informatica ecosystem
- Establish effective communication, training, and knowledge management programs
- Create a unified source of truth for governed data assets
Establish an enterprise-wide data governance framework to automate policy enforcement, integrate metadata management, and create a single source of truth across strategic business units.
Challenge
Barriers to Progress
The organization was launching its first enterprise-wide data governance initiative across four independent SBUs with differing operating models and data practices. The initial governance product implementation was misaligned with business needs and lacked integration with Informatica tools, limiting effectiveness. There was no centralized source of truth, and governance processes were fragmented. Adoption risk was high without structured training, standardized workflows, and operational alignment between business and technology teams.
- First-time enterprise governance deployment across four SBUs
- Faulty initial governance product implementation
- No integration between governance platform and Informatica CDQ
- Lack of centralized, trusted source of truth
- Inconsistent policies and processes across business units
- Limited governance maturity and stakeholder alignment
Solution & Results
What Paradigm Enabled
Paradigm assessed and redesigned the governance platform metamodel to align with the organization’s operating model and enterprise architecture. Six core governance processes were implemented as automated workflows within the platform, and eight of Paradigm’s data governance accelerators were customized to accelerate delivery. A comprehensive Data Governance Playbook and Runbook were developed to institutionalize standards and improve productivity. End-user training and knowledge transfer were delivered to onshore and offshore data stewards to drive adoption. A custom connector between Collibra and Informatica CDQ enabled integrated reporting and operational transparency.
- Governance metamodel realigned to enterprise operating model
- 6 automated governance workflows implemented
- 8 accelerators customized, reducing project timeline by 2 months
- 13% productivity increase through standardized Playbook and Runbook adoption
- Integrated reporting enabled via Collibra–Informatica CDQ connector
- Enterprise-wide training delivered to global data stewards
The manufacturer now operates with a scalable, automated data governance framework that integrates seamlessly with its Informatica ecosystem, strengthens enterprise data consistency, and supports disciplined digital growth across all strategic business units.
